What is Strobel construction?
Strobel construction
Strobel construction stitches the upper directly to a fabric insole board (the Strobel sock) with a Strobel machine, creating a flexible, sock-like base; a midsole/outsole is then attached. It is the foundation of most modern athletic and knit sneakers.
The upper is sewn to a soft textile insole using a Strobel stitch, forming a closed "bag" around the foot. The lasted assembly is then bonded to an EVA/phylon midsole and rubber outsole.
This method gives excellent flexibility, low weight and a comfortable, glove-like fit — the reason it underpins almost all running shoes, knit sneakers and athleisure footwear.
DOING uses Strobel construction across running, lifestyle and knit lines, pairing it with engineered-mesh or flyknit uppers and tuned EVA/phylon midsoles.
